Complexia is an independent policy research and advisory institution specialising in governance, P/CVE, peacebuilding, and economic recovery across North Africa, the Middle East, and the Sahel. Complexia is operated by Complexia LLC, a limited liability company registered in the State of Wyoming, United States.
For the purposes of applicable data protection law, Complexia is the data controller for information collected in connection with this website and our correspondence with you.
2. What information we collect
This website does not run tracking scripts, does not use advertising cookies, and does not include a data-collecting contact form. We collect information only in the following limited ways:
- Correspondence you send us. When you email us — including through the addresses listed on our Engage page — we receive whatever information you choose to include: typically your name, email address, organisation, and the content of your message.
- Basic hosting and security logs. Our hosting provider (Netlify) automatically records standard technical information for every visit, such as IP address, browser type, referring page, and timestamp. This is used only for security, abuse prevention, and understanding aggregate site performance — never for advertising or profiling.
3. How we use information
We use the information described above only to:
- Respond to your inquiry and correspond with you about a potential or ongoing engagement;
- Maintain records of professional correspondence, as any advisory institution reasonably would;
- Keep the website secure and functioning correctly;
- Comply with applicable legal or regulatory obligations, where relevant.
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties, and we do not use your correspondence for marketing without your explicit consent.
4. Sharing of information
We do not share the content of your correspondence with third parties except:
- Where necessary to deliver an engagement you have specifically requested (for example, with a named co-author or partner organisation, and only with your knowledge);
- Where required by law, regulation, or a valid legal process;
- With service providers who support our operations — currently limited to our email provider (Zoho) and hosting provider (Netlify) — bound by their own confidentiality and data protection obligations.
5. Data retention
We retain professional correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to maintain accurate business records, typically for the duration of any engagement plus a reasonable period afterward for legal, accounting, and institutional memory purposes. You may request deletion of your correspondence at any time, subject to any legal obligations we may have to retain certain records.
6. Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain uses of it. To exercise any of these rights, write to us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable time.
Complexia is a small, independent institution. This policy describes our actual, current practices rather than a generic template — if our practices change materially, we will update this page and note the revision date above.
7. International transfers
Because our correspondents and hosting infrastructure are located in different countries, information you send us may be processed outside your own country, including in Tunisia, the United States, or the European Union, depending on the service provider involved. We take reasonable steps to ensure any such transfer is handled with an appropriate level of protection.
8. Children's privacy
This website and our services are intended for institutional and professional audiences. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
